Keyboard Social Distancing

Truly Ergonomic Keyboard Social Distancing

Together, we can slow the spread of COVID-19 by making a conscious effort to keep a physical distance between you and people outside your home. Social distancing is proven to be one of the most effective ways to reduce the spread of illness during an outbreak. If you must go outside, it is also suggested to wear a protective face mask. With patience and cooperation, we can all do our part.

It’s important to remember that Social Distancing doesn’t mean Isolation. By the same token that your keyboard can still be connected to your computer at a distance, you can use the current available technology to video conference with your Family and Friends to stay connected; and this might also be a good time to reconnect with those you haven’t spoken to in a long time.

Social Distancing means making changes in your everyday routines in order to minimize close contact with others, including:

      • Avoiding crowded places and non-essential gatherings.
      • Avoiding common greetings, such as handshakes.
      • Limiting contact with people at higher risk, like older adults and those in poor health.
      • Keeping a distance of at least 2 arms lengths (approximately 6 feet, or 2 meters) from others, as much as possible.

Here’s how you can practice social distancing:

      • Greet with a wave, instead of a handshake, a kiss or a hug.
      • Stay home as much as possible, including for meals and entertainment.
      • If you need to shop or take public transportation, do so during off-peak hours.
      • Conduct virtual meetings.
      • Host virtual playdates for your kids.
      • Work from home if possible.

Remember to:

      • Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds (each time), with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub, particularly before eating or preparing foods, and more importantly before touching your face or other humans.
      • Cough or sneeze into the bend of your arm.
      • Avoid touching surfaces people touch often.

It is highly recommended to stay inside your home, but if you must go outside to work or do your groceries, this is what you should do:

      • Remain over 6 feet away from others.
      • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your eyes, mouth, or nose.
      • Wear a protective face mask if you can, including a well-made home-mask. Please note that face masks should only be used once or for a maximum of 6 straight hours, unless it specifically mentions that it is washable.

About COVID-19:

The virus that causes COVID-19 was believed to spread only from person-to-person for the most part, because of the poor survivability of coronaviruses on surfaces. But newer studies prove that the virus actually remains active on various surfaces: up to 4 days on hard shiny surfaces like Glass, Aluminum, Steel, or Plastic; up to 24 hours on Cardboard, Paper, or Fabrics. So make sure not to touch any of these unless you know they are perfectly clean and disinfected.

As for our keyboards, there are reports that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) cannot survive via products manufactured or assembled by an affected person, as there is likely very low risk of spread from products that are shipped over a period of days at ambient temperatures. So even if a person affected with the virus touches or manipulates a product, the virus only survives a limited time on the environment, so by the time it finalizes assembly, gets shipped to a warehouse, and then shipped to your home or office, there is practically no possibility of transmission.

New product smell

Please be aware that disregarding viruses, most new products do have a ‘new product’ smell, due to some materials that disperse non-toxic chemicals that emit smells after recently being manufactured and stored in a sealed bag, and nothing to do with contagious viruses.
